A month later

Cash and Dom were headed out to one of the safe houses to have a talk with their workers. Juelez was running late because he had to take me to the doctor. I had been running a temp of 102 for the past 2 days, and it wouldn't go down. While at the doctor's office, he turned his phone off. I knew about the meeting and tried to convince him to go and I would be fine. Instead he said, "Naw Ma...I’m concerned about you right now."

Something in my mind told me to make him leave anyway, but I didn't. What happened next made me wish I had.

The doctor diagnosed me with pneumonia and admitted me to the hospital. After I was settled in my room, Juelez turned his phone back on.

He had several voicemails from Mama Douglas telling him to call her immediately. He stepped outside to call her back.

Next thing I knew, he was screaming "Who the hell would do something like this? Ma I swear I’m killing anybody that had something to do with it."

When he came back in, his eyes were red. I kept asking what was wrong. He just stood there.

Then he finally spoke. “Cash is dead, somebody killed him.” Then he turned and walked out.

The doctor wanted me to stay in the hospital for at least a week, but there was no way I could do that; my man needed me. I signed out after just 3 days. My pneumonia hadn’t went away, but I really didn't care.

Juelez and Dom had been out raising hell in the streets. They wanted whoever did this to pay. I stayed at the house with Mama Douglas and helped her with the funeral arrangements. Juelez came around to check on us daily. He also put a guard outside the house. He didn't know if the guys who did this would target the family or not.

When he came home he barely spoke to me .It was like he blamed me. Had he not been at the hospital with me, he would have been there for his brother.

I couldn't even be mad because in a way, he was right.

The silent treatment Juelez was giving me got worse after the funeral. I decided it was time for me to go back to my apartment. I explained to Mama Douglas why I was leaving and she understood. She also said she was going to talk to Juelez.

Not only did he blame me, he had started going off on Dom too. Dom didn't take it personal, but there was only so much I could take.

I stopped working for awhile to play catch up in my summer classes. With me being sick and Cash getting murdered, my grades were dropping. I knew my mother would kill me so I had to focus all my attention on school. I had stopped calling Juelez since he never answered my calls. I would ask Tiana about him since she was the only one he was talking to at the time.
